Band of Brothers Men's Fraternity starts meeting June 8 at 6:00–7:30 on Thursdays Mornings in June and July. This brotherhood serves as a training ground for leadership at home, work and in the community. Over breakfast and fellowship, men challenge one another to invest in life’s most important pursuits--faith, family, work, service and sacrifice. The group will start discussing The Manual: Getting Masculinity Right by Al Stewart. RSVP to Pastor James by June 1 to receive your free paperback copy.
Understanding what it means to be male has never been more confusing. As much toxic male behavior saturates our public attention, how does a man even know what healthy masculinity looks like, or where to find men worth following?
The Manual is written to men, for men and about men and is one of those great books that outlines the issues but also gives practical help in how to live your life as a man who is valued by others. Al Stewart is refreshingly honest as he works through some of his own struggles with the aim of helping others avoid similar mistakes. The book explores a general understanding of manhood but also drills down into what it means to be a healthy son, workmate, friend, single man, husband and father. Al makes no bones about his belief in Jesus and the central role his faith has in making him a better man and urges other men to hear the good news of who Jesus is and the difference he makes in all walks of life.
